High atop a cliff jutting into the clear deep waters of Lake
Superior, the lighthouse beckons to travelers in search of a secluded retreat
from modern life. A unique B&B in one of the few surviving resident working
lighthouse in the country. The seven guest room are "simple but elegant", some
with fireplaces and furnished with antiques , all have ceiling fans. The
atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and casual. Guest enjoy use of the light tower,
sauna, screen house, living room with fireplace, library, more than three acres
of lawns and gardens, 40 acres of woods with trails and a half mile Lake
Superior shoreline. A good nights sleep is guaranteed, but early risers may be
rewarded with close a up view of, deer, moose, foxes, bald eagles, owls and
other assorted wildlife. Full light keeper's breakfast served in the dining room
each morning. Listed on the National and State Register of Historic Places.
Hiking, fishing, tennis, boating, Nordic and alpine skiing, snowmobiling, golf,
antique and gift shops, museums and a variety of summer festivals and winter
sports competitions are all nearby. 90 minutes from Pictured Rocks National
Shore. Lighthouse Tours May 1 to September 30 Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday at
1:00, 1:30 & 2:00 pm et. admission $2.00. Grounds open daily 10:30 am to
4:00 pm ET.
